Community Website Case Study
Client: Growing Corning Together
Background: Growing Corning Together, a community outreach organization, manages multiple events and programs but lacked a centralized platform for sharing information, relying instead on scattered Facebook groups.
Problem: The decentralized nature of information made it difficult for community members to find details about events and programs, leading to reduced engagement and accessibility challenges. In addition, there was no framework for signing up vendors or volunteers for events.
Solution: As the sole developer, I created a new website to serve as a centralized hub for all Growing Corning Together activities. I designed and developed the site using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, integrating iframes for dynamic content and managing DNS setup. I also implemented SEO strategies to improve discoverability and have been responsible for ongoing updates to keep the content current. Additionally, I used Google technology to develop custom forms and backend processes to facilitate vendor and volunteer sign-ups for events.
Results: The website has significantly improved access to information, making it easier for community members to stay informed about events and programs. SEO efforts have increased visibility, and the centralized platform has enhanced engagement within the Corning community.
Technologies Used: Azure DevOps, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, iframes, DNS, SEO, Google Services.
